After having read every single book in the Belgariad-universe, I finally also finished Belgarath the Sorcerer. As was the case with Polgara the Sorceress, it was very interesting to get a look at the life of such a major character from the Belgariad series, especially one who has lived for so long/5.
"Belgarath the sorcerer" starts just where "The Malloreon" ended, that is the book "Seeress of Kell". And, strangely enough, it is nothing less than Belgarath's autobiography.
As those who have read the series already know, Belgarath is a notoriously lazy sorcerer, probably the least likely person to /5(). The Belgariad, Vol. 1: Pawn of Prophecy / Queen of Sorcery / Magician's Gambit by David Eddings Ratings Reviews published 7 editionsAuthor: David Eddings.
I was also impressed with the way these books integrate into the other stories of Polgara's and Belgarath's backgrounds. The history of those two books is a great read to even better understand their character backgrounds.
I noticed several people comment negatively on the binding of this by: 2. For anyone who has fallen as deeply in love with the Belgariad and the Mallorean as I have will truly cherish and enjoy this book. Told from the straight from the heart of the centuries-old, wise, witty, overdramatic and altogether lovable sorcerer Belgarath, the Old Wolf, this novel is a captivating and entertaining novel that expands on the beginnings of Eddings' world.5/5(5).
When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man, and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer.
This rousing precursor to two five-book sagas is probably best read after them because of Belgarath's digressions into his own present, but make no mistake--the sagas' many fans will definitely relish it.

Pawn of ProphecyAuthor: David Eddings. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand years.
Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles. Finally, the saga is complete and this book doesn't disappoint at all. It is, off course, very similar to "Belgarath the Sorcerer".
People who read the other books by David & Leigh Eddings will love it, for everyone else, let me warn you: The book takes its time to get into high gear and many things that Pol writes about are hard to understand for people who haven't read the other books.5/5(5).
